Can someone please post the link for the test for hot or dead pixels?

The linked thingy only works on PCs and I be on Macs
SO any other suggestions anyone
How does that software work ? might it be possible to mimic its effect in another way?

I use the Photoshop's histogram for this.
You open the full resolution test image in PS, then click on the yellow triangled exclamation sign in the histogram to get a full-pixel rendition. After that you just move the mouse cursor inside that histogram to read the pixel count at different light levels.
Make sure you've chosen a short shutter time (1/100s or shorter) when you want to reveal dead pixels, and a longer (1s or longer) time for hot pixels.

Had a scratch on the mirror ( getting a replacement Tues)
