Basically I dont hold it from the side, I actually cradle it like its sitting on a tripod head with my left hand , elbow tucked into my chest and my right helps adjust focus and press the shutter release, as far as stance, I find if I stand with one leg in front of the other, I achieve a more solid balance.:D :D :D
