There's nothing like freezing your butt off and messing up your jeans for a fun day of softball. This was the first softball game I've been to and it was fun!

1) (a little bit underexposed, I think)

They (or that first one in particular) do not look underexposed to me. I think they all look excellent. Nice sharp shots, great compositions, excellent timing. Good stuff Chris!

Thank you CDI! I think the overcast sky helped a lot with the exposure.

No problem Chris. On second look, your first one may be a just a tad underexposed because there's a bit of shadow detail lost in her right leg. Otherwise it looks fine.

Overcast days do make for nice even lighting...that's for sure.

Hey Chris... oh yeah.... the good old days of spring\winter back to spring... then winter again.... of the Pacific Northwest. Have to admit it.... it is this time of year that I really don't miss the area too much. Winter is winter there..... so I am fine with it..... Summer is just awsome, fall is very fallish and gets you in the mood... but spring is about is way too long and never gets warm enough until july 5th. Anyway.... these look good and those overcast NW skies are good for one thing... nicely difused light. I enjoyed the shots... keep at it.

Nice pics, Chris. The first one's a tad underexposed but color saturation is excellent in all of them. Too bad you weren't on the third base side of the batter in #2 because your timing was great and it looks like would have had a nice face if shot from the other side. #1's an excellent pitcher shot and #3's a great shot of a play at the plate if you're a PLU fan.

Yes, so true. You never really know if will rain or not, but you do know one thing: it's going to be cold. The weather is actually making me sick and I think I better sleep a little longer tonight :)

Thanks for commenting Mark!

Yes, the batter shots were really ticking me off. I ended up getting some better ones when I sat right behind 1st. I find it difficult to get faces on those because either their helmet covers their face, or they turn too much on the swing... I'll get it eventually :)

I am definitely a PLU fan! Thanks Jerry.

Thanks Liza. In that photo it looks like the runner is going to get clobbered with the ball! I'm not really sure what was going on there, maybe a really bad throw to home.

Chris - You'll find it very difficult to get faces in bat-on-the-ball captures because the batter's eyes should be on the ball as it meets the bat thus her helmet will block her face. I suggest you try for follow-through and coming-out-of-the-box shots when the batter puts the ball into play. Some of these captures are dramatic and much more interesting than bat-on-the-ball images. Take a look at THIS (http://www.jerryhalephotography.com//bbexs/batters/index.htm) link for some baseball batter examples.

Good point. I guess that explains why, in every shot, the batter is looking down :)

Thanks for the tip, I'll try to capture some 'after-the-hit' shots at the next game and see how they turn out.
