My mentor and secondshooter sent me this photo taken of me last weekend when I shot my 2nd winter wedding. I thought it was hilarious!

LOL
I was -15 today (wind chill), so I'm totally relating. :)

But watching the bride and bridesmaids getting dressed cancels out all other inconveniences! ;)

cdi-ink, not in Sweden (plus I'm not "wired that way")... we mostly only shoot portraits and the ceremony, so everyone is already dressed, even the groom. *bummer* :D

Hey you could be "wired that way". Nothing wrong with that! ;) :p Shame on the groom for ya...but I haven't been able to get into a wedding where I caught the pre-action either. :(

Yeah, I really need to have them send in pre-photos of them, so I know how the groom looks like before I offer a "pre wedding package" and I'll check in *his* :D
PS, no nothing wrong with being wired that way, just wanted to make clear I'm a female - in case there was a doubt somewhere. :D

-15C is not that bad, you guys have had colder weather this year (or at least my parents had). I shot ONE winter wedding, lucky me the bride and groom didn't want to venture outside for any shots; #1 no snow, #2 bride didn't want to get her dress ruined and #3 it was an evening wedding. =o)

Sue, oh yeah... we had -30°C the weekend prior to that (i.e. two weeks ago), but if it had been that cold last weekend, I doubt we'd been taking any shots at all. The bride had enough of a red nose, red hands, and the groom had red ears and a runny nose... brrrr... that would just not work for me either...
And to be honest, I only button up my jacket while we were by the water shooting, cuz it was a bit of a wind there... most of the time I had my jacket open during outside. I'm not freezing much, it just looked funny with me halfway through the snow. :D

Um, the only thing that's -15c in the weddings I shoot is the margaritas.
However, I AM in southern California.

Love makes one do many a crazy thing...:)
Why do you think I'm still sane and rational? ;)

VanceW, my thoughts exactly! I guess they were in a hurry - or they love the winter. However they left for Borneo for their honeymoon, so I'm not sure. I did offer to come with them and just for food, hotel and plane tickets cover their honeymoon, but they didn't liked that idea. *bummer* :D

I bet the snow made for some cool pics...but what's up with you walking through the snow without your camera strap on? Crazy!

Yeah, sounds like they have cold/hot shock treatment thing going. :)
Shot my first one wedding last night, and will be doing my editing later tonite I think. :)
No snow, just overcast skies, but it was all indoors so no worries.

At least in Finland (so this might apply to Sweden as well) temperatures are always given withtout wind chill factor. Wind chill is considered to be free bonus that can't be refused.

Sometimes there is weird logic behind all the other stuff, when people make their decision between summer and winter weddings. Just last weekend, I participated wedding party (as guest), where couple wanted winter wedding, because they didn't want to ruin their friends and relatives summer plans. That might have something to do with two facts, which are that
- Finns usually take four weeks summer vacation and
- during last summer, this couple had spent many weekends in other peoples wedding parties
These two things don't mix nicely...
I mean weddings are nice, but if they are in middle of your vacation, it usually means more driving around, etc., which might not be that fun.

JaertX, I hate the neckstrap - and especially when I have two cameras around my neck... gonna get those handstraps for them, so I can have a better grip, but I've never dropped a camera yet - knock on wood (and snow is soo much softer than a stone floor).
Juha, you are so right! It can really be hectic with maybe 3-4 weddings in the summer if you're unlucky! My husband and I got married on "midsummer" (June 21st, the longest day of the year) and my cousins said they had been to three weddings before ours already. Luckily they had their vacation time in July, so to them it was a good kickoff to attend a june wedding. Plus our party was more fun - we were on a boat. :D
