I just put in my order for a 20D! I used the psjan code at B&H and got it for $1091.95. I can't believe I just spent that much on a camera, but I can't wait to start using it. I'm sure it will be a big upgrade from my old 300D. B&H still didn't have a pre-order for the 30D and I was tired of waiting. Hopefully they don't list the 30D in the next couple of weeks for $1200.
What I got:
20D
430EX
Sto-fen for 430EX
RS-80N3 Remote Switch (Why is this so much more than the DRebel remote?)
2GB Sandisk Ultra II
2-day delivery so I should get it Tuesday or Wednesday.

congrats and great buying there. My unit was about that price used only last october. The 20D was sold thru its first year at $1400-1500 and you got the same body nearly one third less.

You must think people are totally insane for buying 1D series bodies then. My next camera, baby. ;)

Wow, this is something truly unexpected. I guess the announcement of the 30D was a "wait and see" for a lot of people, but didn't change any minds. People still wanted the 20D. I'm glad because I have one and I just love it. So sturdy and so reliable. I have been really happy with mine and the price is so great. Congrats and have a great time with it.

And fedex works on saturdays too but typically when dealing with larger companies they dont deliv. those packages on the weekends.
But i personally have never gotten a B&H package on saturday so in that respect...yeah

Thanks! I really like the 30D, but I was tired of waiting. B&H still has not put anything up for pre-ordering the 30D. It looks like it will be 1-3 months before I would be able to get one, and I saved about $200. I don't have a camera at all right now so the money plus the added time shooting was the deciding factor.

The only people who ship on saturday are the USPS. Oh well. That's about the way my luck goes. At least I'm now down to under 24 hours. The waiting is getting real intense. I keep checking the UPS tracking and it seems to just sit for way longer than I like. Like I have any control
I am extremely excited though.

I bought an adidt remote for the 350D off ebay. One of those that ship direct from China. Took about 5 days to arrive. Cost £6.99 - 0.99 for the Item £5.00 postage plus £1 required insurance. The Canon remote retails in the UK for around £19.99 plus S&H so saved around £15 with the postage costs taken into account.
In case you are interested the dealer is link-delight and the item can be seen on this page http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7588045824&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT

Me too.... Had the 20D since April 2005 and have since spent a further wodge of my cash on the items below. Loving it :-). 30D looks nice but not worth the cash to upgrade just yet. 20D does everything (and more) that i could want from a camera.:D

The 30D will not take better pictures than the 20D so don't worry about not waiting for it. You'll love the 20D as most of us 20D owners do. It's not the #1 selling DSLR in it's class for nothing. I was thinking that just before the details of the 30D was announced, if it was a significant upgrade for marginally more money, I'd go for it as I'm sure I could get close to what I paid for my 20D since it's only a little over 4 months old and in pristine condition and I've only taken 2,289 photos with it. ;). I've decided to keep the 20D even when I do get another body(most likely the 5D). I like the camera that much.

Now the gut-wrenching waiting game begins.....a whole week without a camera, I might go crazy now. :( Shipped off my Pro1 sold on ebay just this afternoon..........then promptly signed into B&H and finally hit "checkout" on my shopping list. :-D

Oh well, monday or tuesday next week is ok too. :P

Its here! I pulled in literally 3 seconds after the UPS man pulled into my driveway, he said "You're just in time, because you have to sign for this one." :D
Its like Christmas, I'm just teasing myself, I havent even opened it in the whole 4 minutes I've been home.
*Opened
:( I bought a Giottos rocket blower/lens cleaning kit with it too, and the entire bottle of lens cleaning fluid emptied out into the packaging. :(
*Edit 1 - Bah, called B&H and they said "we'll file a claim with UPS and get back to you on that." I mean jeez, its a $15 kit, not a $10,000 lighting setup, offer to RMA it for me or send me a free bottle of cleaning solution.
Camera is beautiful though.
*Edit 2 - Called back and told them for the few dollars it was worth, I didnt want to bother with the hassle of dealing with a UPS claim, pick-ups, shipping back blah blah blah. The guy was very nice, he goes "Oh no, you got us all wrong! We do all the legwork, we'll deal with UPS, no hassle to you at all, all you do now is sit back and wait for a new one to show up." Ok, I feel better now.

I signed up for the 20D club last Thanskgiving. It's been a really wonderful journey. I'm so happy that the newly announced 30D offers not much improvement. So i don't have to worry about upgrade for another 18 months or whenever the 30D replacement is announced.:D

Add me to the club.. I just took the plunge and picked up a 20d from Amazon. I was leaning towards the psjan deal at B&H, but once I added the price of a lens (I'm getting the kit, figure I'll start there and then decide what to get next) and shipping ($3.99 overnight via their Amazon prime trial)...
I can't wait. I also can't believe I actually bought it.

I should buy some Canon stock the way people have been joining the club. :) But it's really a great thing to have toys that are useful.
I wish you could post some pictures of Iraq for us. Yesterday, on Oprah, she showed pictures of Pakistan with earthquake damage. I was completely absorbed in the video. I am donating to UNICEF this week. My heart goes out to those people. A picture is worth a thousand words.

Does the scroll wheel next to the shutter button "loosen" up with use? Using mine is like trying to push a wheelbarrow with a square tire, you can do it, its just not all that easy, nothing compared to how smooth my Pro1's was, its just odd in comparison to the "soft touch" of all the other buttons on the camera.

I did it!!! I got tired of checking the photo stores for prices every day and drove 60 miles to Beach Camera (in the rain, sleet & snow) and bought the 20D w/kit lense for $1160.00.
It sure feels good in my hands.

Sure, spend the $80-100 and get the 50mm f1.8. I played with it all weekend and had a fun time with it. ;)
And I figured out that yes indeed, the scroll wheel next to the shutter button does loosen up a bit with use and isnt so 'clunky'.
