Abstracts

I tried to make an abstract photo and took one of a simple lock on my window trying making it look different. Can someone comment this and tell me what I could better here:

I really like it. The main focal point seems slightly out of focus, but only slightly.

My only concern is at what ISO did you shoot it at?
Also you could up the levels slightly for a brighter picture

I like the subject, nice shot. It could be a little clearer and brighter, or just add a little contrast.

Nil and ryuwulf thanks for your comments! This picture was shot at ISO 200..maybe too much noise in there but I liked it to soften a bit. I tried to brighten and contrast the picture but when I stare too long I cannot judge what's better for this picture. Maybe you can try out..really like to see what you make of it. Here's the link:

Because of the ISO rate it looks a bit out of focus..maybe that's the cause of the focus thing.

Well both images carry about the same info and leave the same impression. It is abstract in a way.

But in the end, it is a latch of some sort, and so comes across (IMHO) as an real world piece and not so really abstract. A latch is a latch.

I suspect that we see through the blurred focus (DOF re Ap of camera) and rebuild the reality in our brains -- or so it seems to me.

Thats true Howie a latch is a latch and it is difficult to see some other more abstract thing in it. But I haven't been looking at this latch in the same way before I took this picture. The common thing for me gets another attention and look. The images are the same..posted and links both the same image. But for me it is abstract in the way you look at the latch. When I take a picture from about one meter distance, you wouldn't even notice it. I find it difficult making an abstract photo and make other people experience the same...I may like one picture and others don't experience it in the same way. Therefore I want to learn a lot more from this. But hey this is a first try..
