I should think not - those, like me, who did not contribute equipment do not qualify.

Well since I possibly won't be there, I was just going to give the money to someone who will (probobly Pete) and they can pay for a number of tickets for certian people, and then use the rest as they see fit, most likely to pay for anyone one else who happens to be there, untill its all gone :)
At least thats what I would do, if Im not lugging my bed up in the door of my new house :D

Thought it might be time for a quick reminder on the tentative Itinerary:
Meet at either the downtown ferry terminal at 9:00am for the 9:15 ferry, or Devonport at 9:10 for the 9:25 ferry to Rangitoto (I think parking is free in Devonport?). We can probably arrange car pooling to one of these two locations.
At the moment to give us enough time out there, we will sail back on the 3:30 ferry and all get off a Devonport to check out the tunnels and shoot the sunset (5:30ish)
We can all grab a bite to eat somewhere in Devonport after that!
Packed Lunches I think for the island, and don’t forget the Great Kiwi Old School Photo Shoot (GKOSPS), which will most probably happen out on Rangitoto.

Cool! I have added you to the list, that is 12 confirmed! GKPE I we had six, GKPE II we had only five, so this will be a big one, no fitting everyone in one minibus!

Pete - 16 days to go. We may need to start logistics for transport. I'm taking the car so I can take 3 - 4 depending on how tight we want to squeeze in. And am thinking of driving to Devonport -- cheaper than parking in the city (me thinks...) unless someone can point me to free parking ;-)

A few of us went to Rangitoto the other day.
The ferry left Auckland full, so a 2nd ferry took the Devonport people, on a not so full ride. :D
But then again, it was a public holiday and not much else to do.
So if some go from Auckland City, there's a possibility you won't get on the same boat if it's full.
Parking is also free in Devonport, towards Naval Base.. And with shooting sunset later, it's probably a 2 second stroll from the sea wall photographing out over the city.

Which I can tell you makes some nice back drops, although I was thinking from the top of Mt Vic would also be good, and it would be nice to have a car or too
for a ride to the top (it's a steep hill).
I can try and get the van this time, but it looks like we will still need a second car from out East anyway.
In which case, and since we're not going far, it's just as easy to take two cars, so I would love a ride if theres one going :)

Wow - that is really generous. Unfortunately, I am proud and stubborn, so I could not accept such kindness. Fuel is only one factor. The physical demands (at almost 70), and the need to be fresh for the family's involvement in the Cambridge to Hamilton Kayak Race the next day are others.
Nevertheless, I am still tempted.

So far I've applied at 24 schools that advertised actual vacancies. No one of them called me for an interview. Sometimes I've just received a (standard) letter stating that I was unsuccesful, otherwise they simply did not answer at all. :-/
At this stage I'm wandering if there is something wrong with my CV (apart from the fact I almost have no teaching experiences outside Italy)...

A position as maths teacher in high schools (calculus, up to senior level).
And, of course, I phoned and I went personally to some schools. On the bright side, just ten minutes ago I received a phone call from one of the schools I visited: tomorrow I'll sit for an interview for a two or three weeks relief teaching... let's see what happens! ;)

Despite all the ho-ha about NZ being short of teacher I get the feeling it has a lot to do with the unwillingness of schools to hire teachers.
I know if I was to go and apply to all the jobs suitable for me at the moment there is no way I could find 24 bussiness all offering the same position, and if I did I know several of them would make me an offer.
A good friend was told when she finnished teachers collage that there be lots of job for her to choose from. However she could not get a full time job. It wasn't untill she tried a little relief teaching that she suddenly found it much easier to land a permanent role.

It should take 10-15 mins to get to Ellerslie, another 10-15 to Mission Bay, and another 15 to Devonport...? the 15 min allowance should give us enough leeway for the traffic mess with all the roadworks going on the Shore motorway... OK a word from Fullers, they suggest we are there 15 minutes early, there should be no issue with a party of 20 decending on them with no warning.
Also Chocolate Brownie is currently being cooked :D
On the Plan B I suggest we all meet at Devonport if the weather is looking suspect and take it from there, no one that I am aware of has a weather sealed camera, so a sense of adventure and a "harden up" attitude is probaly not good for the ole kit:shock:

Hmmm, Port, Brownie (mmmmmm) and Italian Cake thing, mmmmmm, Sounds like it could be a good day, even if we don't take any photos :)
My camera might not be sealed, but its got wet in the past and dosn't seem to mind as long as its only a few drops on the outside.
Iv got my batteries in the charger, and Iv just glued my ND filter back together. (for some reason the expoxy I used last time didn't want to hold the ice cream container filter mount together)

After hoping to make this event I find I can't! I'll be on a ferry alright, but the 8:15 to Waiheke. After spending a month away being caregiver to my two grandsons (5y and 2.5y) I was looking forward to this. However Murphy's Law seems destined to prevail, and duties on Waiheke prevail. Off to Philipines on Tuesday for a week...a bit cagey about taking too much gear, so have settled on one walkabout lens and a nondescript bag. Feeling a bit out of touch with the forum activities.....
All the best guys and girls.

My wife has already "collapsed" into the bed. She asked me to wake her up on *monday* morning! ;)
Unfortunately I've shot few pictures: I need more time to be "operative", but it was a great day out there in the stunning Rangitoto. I'll certainly go there again, soon. The only disappointment of the day, apart from my poor spoken English, was the Crescionda: yesterday, out from the oven, it seemed acceptable. Today, when I tasted it at Islington Bay, it was not so good at all. Definitely, aussie amaretti are not good enugh to bake a decent Crescionda. Next time I'll try an easier cake. Fortunately there were delicious choc brownies to keep our spirits up!

I do, however, need a hip replacement after favouring one leg all day due to an almost rolling of the ankle within the first 10mins of arriving at Rangitoto. Always have been and always will be accident prone, hehe
