well, if you clicked here to see my photo...guess what! no photo.

Since I've never posted one before, I need to know what size I need to reduce to (in keeping with POTN guidelines). Don't want to send too large of a pic.

Please respond soon, as I have been up all night working and need to hit the sack!

Thanks!

Image posting guidelines may be found here (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=51022). Give a holler if that isn't enough.

Nice shot. In the future when posting photos, let's go ahead and post them in the proper forum. :) Thanks!

ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Since your picture looks great, I'm assuming that your comment has to do with something else - like maybe not seeing the picture in your post. This happens to me a lot with images that are attached via the POTN site. All I see is a place holder for the image. I then have to right-click on the photo (place holder), click on Properties, and copy the URL. If I paste the URL into the address bar in my browser and hit enter, the pic will appear. Then, when I return to the POTN forum, I will see the pic in the thread.

I never have this problem with photos that are linked from other sites. Does anyone else have issues with pics linked from POTN? Is there anything I can do to get the POTN photos to show up without all of the extra messing around?

I like the color and contrasting silhouette of the tree and shrubs. I find cutting off the top of the tree a bit distracting, like cutting off the top of a persons head. Other than that a wonderful shot.

I don't know what you mean here. Looks like a landscape to me and it's in the travel/LANDSCAPE forum. You should be more specific so the poster can figure out what you're talking about.

Aside from that, I like the colors but I have to agree that the top of the tree should have been included. Good job.

I often get no picture and wasn't sure what the problem was... I just move on. I still don't understand what you posted since I don't see any link to a photo of any sort. My loss.

Albert,
That's a gorgous shot. Was it taken in Louisiana? I'm from the northern part of the state.

I work for IP near Mansfield in NW Louisiana. Clear Lake/Black lake is very close to there. Composing the shot was difficult as a bridge on Hwy 509 runs adjacent to the tree. Since we work a rotating shift at the mill, cars are going to work and others are leaving...all across that very same bridge, so keeping car lights out of the pic while keeping the tree in the scene was difficult. Also, it was early morning, so long exposures were a must.

I wanted the top of the tree, but my AOV wasn't wide enough from where I shot. moving back would have put the boat dock in the bottom of the pic. Actually, I think the corner of the dock is down on the left.

Thanks for the helpful comments and criticisms on my very first pic posting. My future posts of this nature will be in the landscape forum!

One other thing, I also forgot to shoot in Aperture Priority (stopping the lens down for depth of field)

would a polarizing filter been more appropriate instead of the 1A that's protecting my lens?

When providing my comments and opinions I try to say some good things and point out some improvements I would make to the shot. But this is just amazing. One possible improvement though: a print out as big as it gets on my wall... Welcome.
