Epson Perfection 3200P Scanner

I need a flatbed scanner capable of doing all my old 35 mm. slides as well as every day jobs with text and photos. Has anyone tried this scanner? Your suggestions will be appreciated.

I've seen good things about the 3200P on RetouchPro. There's a review of the scanner here:

as well as some discussion in their forums.

I have and am very pleased with the Epson Perfection 1660. It includes a film adapter which can accommodate a strip of up to six 35mm negatives or 4 mounted slides at a time. I've scanned alot of slides, some negatives and some prints. There's a collection with a few samples on my fotopic site.

Regards,
Sheri

Sheri, thank you for the information on the 3200 and the link. I can see I'll be browsing through there frequently.

I have many years of 35mm. slides, both scenic and family, I'd like to scan and burn on a CD for posterity and want the best clarity I can get but don't know if that means a flatbed or if I must get a slide scanner -- then which one? So, I continue to research and hope there'll be more reviews available soon.

I did notice last week that Gateway was selling the 3200 for $399. and Costco for $599. which puzzled me at the price difference.

Hi - difference in price is software bundled with the scanner. Scanner is the same, but the pro version has Monaco colorvision and Silverfast AI included with it. Isn't the Costco price $529 tho? I think that's what I paid a couple months ago. Great scanner, Epson's utility software is very easy to use for scans to e-mail and copy to printer - even the OCR is decent.

I have the Canon Canoscan 9900F. I have scanned old negatives, diapositives, prints and all. It made miracles out of my really old stuff. It is a flatbed scanner with holders for strip film, slides and larger film. You can really use it for everything.

There is a rather thorough review on the 9900F and the Epson 3200 at the following site under Reviews/Scanners. The Canon wins.

I stand corrected on the price of the Epson 3200 PRO from Costco.com as it is $529. instead of $599.

After again reading the review John_T posted I decided to order from Costco since their return policy is good. I am now waiting for a tracking # and impatient to get my package as I have 50 yrs. of 35mm. slides to work with. I'll let you know how it works. Thank you for the input.
