Being a "gentleman of leasure" and given to all kinds of futile experimenting, on rare occasions I do seem to discover a thing or two of some value about my cameras/lenses.
By a stroke of sheer luck I might have stumbled on certain idiosyncratic behaviour of the Mark I "keg" which may be in conflict with its design, and which has probably been fixed in the MkII lens. However, I am pretty certain that there must have been some other 85L owners who have observed the behaviour, however, they perhaps did not/could not/did not care to establish a link with the lens specifications.
Not that I really need or covet the MkII, but the sporting prospect/potential of that small techno issue appeals to my little warped mind.
Will keep you posted once the issue is advanced onto a more solid and fertile footing.
