Hi everyone ,
I would like to know if someone's using the 135mm f/2 to shoot ice hockey since the light is so poor in our rink ,
and what about the range you can use it
Thanks
Dan

I'm not too sure about Ice Hockey...but y not consider the 70-200mmf2.8L...it gives you more range and comparably sharp images.

I think you want the reach from the 135L on a 20D and you want the blur because the background in an auditorium is not so nice.

And you can't use flash, right? Maybe shoot 1600iso and process to black n white...

When trying the 135L on my 10D with volleyball for some tight shots, I found the the focus speed was slow compared to the 85 f/1.8 and 50 f/1.4. In brighter light, the 135L does focus quickly. The focus range switch on the 135L was set for distant subjects.

In the gym where I shoot VB, the my meter reads 10 to 11 EV. If your rink is darker than this, I think the 135 may hunt too much for an action sport like hockey.

Me. lens works well. in amateur rinks the light is terrible and the extra f-stop is invaluable. Search sports forum for my hockey posts -- it's been a couple weeks since last game.

I had the 70-200 and it is nowhere near as sharp or as fast as the 135. Indoors in low light it is really quite worthless. That is why I sold mine.

These are the kind of shot i end up with my 70-200 f/4 at 1600iso
this was after a clean up in cs2

Exif : 200mm - f/4 - 1/250 - 1600iso

But i would like to shoot at 800iso - 1/500
