Great shot, but the question that comes to my mind when seeing "cars" like this is: Why...?

It looks like someone's nicked the wheels off it.

yes this is true. it is bagged bodydropped 4 inches and chopped 2 5/8 inches the total height of the truck itself is 6 5/8 lower than factory.

Oh I know all about customisation, its just the excessive lowering that bugs me :) I don't care if you paint your car neon pink with christmas lights all over it and an exhaust the size of the channel tunnel, but I just don't get the point of lowering it so much, makes it look like a boat more than a car to me.

testing the new lens at the recent drift round in Malaysia. superb performance i must say! shot with 550d.nothing fancy about the body though..=P

p/s-currently owns this L glass only. other glasses have been sold to make way for this L. and it worth every single penny!

Thanks! :) I was hoping to catch a sunset, but the clouds over the horizon weren't in the mood for that. I'm glad I went out though, haven't seen a sky like that in a long time.

some really awesome pics in here. can't wait to get mine. Quick question though, is the tripod collar necessary if i want to take some longer exposure shots on a tripod or will i be fine mounting the tripod to my camera?

It is much more easy to handle it with collar. I have one non-Canon from e-bay. Fine product.

I have to agree with df095. It is not too heavy, but you find yourself stressing the tripod's screws too much (at least mine) to get a solid stance, specially if you are shooting vertically in which case the camera tends to tilt on the tripod's platform. The collar is specially good for vertical shots (if you are thinking of using it for portraits and stuff).

I couldn't be happier and its a fraction of Canon's cost. I know there are other even cheaper brands, but I like to go middle ground on this, as, after all, I have still a $900 camera, a $600 lens and a $300 flash hanging on that item :)

I like your pictures, they are very fresh and energetic (due to expressions, framing, etc.). May I ask why you chose that 'cool' (as in opposed to 'warm') color temperature for the first image? While I favor cooler tones on certain looks, portraits, and specially young people's ones, are much more emotional (IMHO) with warmer tones.

Since you have IMAGE EDITING OK, I made this color balance correction in Camera RAW to exemplify what I am talking about, hope you don't mind:

Yes and yes! I was a bit worried about loosing the IS and 50mm on the long end but it was a way worthy upgrade. The 55-250 is a nice lens but no where near the caliber of this one. I can crop back that 50mm plus some and still end up considerably sharper than what I was getting with the 55-250. If you have the money for this upgrade I wouldn't think twice about it.

This is the move i made. Worth every penny.

Better colour
Faster and more accurate focusing
sharper
faster aperture
much better build quality
no rotating front element
no extending elements
USM and full time manual focusing.

Its just a great lens.

I think a lot of us migrated from the 55-250. I LOVED that lens and have a lot of good pictures with it. I thought that after I got my 70-200 I would keep both and use the other when might need stabilization or more distance, or perhaps want a smaller and lighter zoom. But you know what? I never used it again. I kept it for several months and then sold it. I'm pretty sure you will feel the same way.

Took my new 70-200 out yesterday with the intention of capturing some wildlife, but on the whole they refused to co-operate
On the way back to the car I managed to get some wonderful light with the setting sun and some early evening mist, even tho my settings where all wrong for a landscape shot

Has anyone used this for stage-lighting? I'm not too experienced with taking pics at events/conferences, but I don't quite have the money to pick up at 70-200 2.8.. so I was looking at this one. but f/4 at 200 isn't ideal at all for indoor shots.. what to do, what to do..
With a 7D you've got plenty of ISO headroom to play with, so the difference between f/2.8 and f/4 is not the big deal it used to be. Don't be afraid to turn it up.

Last week i tried my frend's 70-200mm F4 lens on mine 40D and i love it. Bokeh is nice, IQ is good and build quality is also good. And today i just change my Sigma 70-200mm F2.8 to Canon's 70-200mm F4 lens and actually i get also few bucks between the lenses. Ofcourse IS version would be nice and good on low light situations, but i can't afford it so i'm gona use that F4..:)

Hopefully i'm gettin lens on next week and got time to shoot with it.
What do you guys think, did i do good change?
Also one think that i like really much is the weight of the lens. Only 700 grams and the Sigma weight something like 1400-1500 with the hood and tripod collar.

Great shots of moving targets. I see you shot around 1/100th with that porsche. Where you on a tripod? I ask because the lowest shutter i have been able to shoot is 1/125th and have it look as sharp as with IS with my Kit lens. Maybe I am just a wobbler. I really want this lens and I amtrying to decide if the IS is really going to be worth double the price.
