Hey Everyone,
I am planning to get a lens adapter for the S2 IS from lensmate. Have been hearing about it a lot from Nancy, and hence decided those over the Canon originals. :)
What i would like to know is, which one would be more useful, the 52mm or the 58 mm? Right now i do not have any accessories, but would be buying them in the future.

if you have any plans to go for, say, a Rebel XT, anywhere in the future, I'd go with the 58 mm, because then you can use the filters you might get for the S2 when you upgrade.
In my case, I had 52 mm. filters from the S1, so I ended up with both the 52 (for the S1 filters) and the 58 for the new stuff that I got for the S2, before I realized there were such things as step up and step down rings.
One other thing you might consider - which TCs or WACs you might get. If you stick with the Canon stuff, then you'll need the 58 mm adapter. If you go with some of the Raynox ones, you'll need the 52 mm.

The LensMate site says what Nancy is saying as well. They recommend the 52mm if you don't already have Canon accessories and the 58mm if you do own or plan to own Canon accessories.
I think I am going to get the 52mm so I can make use of third party lenses and filters.

I bought the 58mm with the understanding that a 52mm can cause slight vignetting...

yes, I do get very minor vignetting with the Raynox WAC and the 52mm adapter, but it is very easily removed with cropping, which I usually do anyway. It's very minor.

I get vignetting when i put 2 or 3 filters on my 52mm adapter, but it disappears when you zoom a little.
