I was just reading all the praise for Breesebrowser, so I downloaded it. Noone mentioned how crippled the trial version is! It will only display 12 pictures in each folder! I am planning to purchase it, if I like it, but the fact that it shows only a portion of the content of a folder can be very confusing!

Have been using th BreezeBrower for over a year and I it is a great software. I don't know what I'd do without it.

I don't remember any such crippling when I first got it... but then that was some time ago. May have just been time restrained, not sure. Anyway, it was enough proof that something better than ZoomBrowser was around. I tried ZB once, totally unimpressed with it. BB is as smooth as glass by comparison. I also have Power Shovel, but BB does most of the conversions for me. JMO, though.

The unregistered version are fully functional but it is limited by the number of images it can handle (12).
So if you register, as I have done, you'll get a registration code to unlock the software, to unlimited (?) numbers of images.
I have used BreezeBrowser for several months now and I think it is very good. You can also make Web-galleries with it, which I have done on my homepage,

I just got my G3 with Zoombrowser. How is Breezebrowser so much better than it? I too tried the trial and can't get a feel for the features with the 12 only lock. What does it do that ZB doesn't and what does it do better?
Thanks,
John

I too read all the positive comments about BreezeBrowser, and downloaded the trial version. I also found the trial version to be so crippled as to be worthless and immediately deleted it again.
I guess what I'm wondering is what does it *really* do for you? I know that it'll convert from Canon RAW format, but since I have yet to shoot in RAW, I don't really need that, at least not yet. I use a card reader, and just copy my images from the card to a directory on my desktop, so I don't need any additional software for that.
Image management? I'm currently using the trial version of IMatch (NOT crippled, just expire-ware), and am planning to register it as my main image management software. I'm also planning to register Qimage as my printing application.
So, what does BreezeBrowser bring to the table that I don't already have? I'm not knocking the program, I'm just trying to figure out if it's worth the cost, since I can't tell anything from the trial version.
Thanks.

BreezeBrowser is a good functioning RAW image converter, not an image enhancement program. While it allows some manipulation during the conversion process -- including smart noise reduction, saturation and sharpening -- it doesn't take the place of programs like Photoshop, Elements, Paint Shop Pro and many others. But in my opinion BreezeBrowser gives you speed and quality. You may browse and easy look around at your images, and they are better arranged (displayed) than in ZoomBrowser.
One thing that BreezeBrowser is not, is an image database.
If you don't see a lot of advantage of RAW over JPG, and instead shoot JPG, you can use BreezeBrowser and the Smart Noise Reduction on the JPGs and it does a fine job of reducing (not eliminating) ISO noise. I am not sure that any other such programs also work on JPG formats by reducing noise.
It also has a nice HTML-generator which makes it easy creating webgalleries. Better than Photoshop 7.0 because BreezeBrowser also has the option for Unsharp Mask when creating a webgallery. In my homepage at
http://home.online.no/~vi-kols/
I have made some webgalleries using the HTML-template ”Simple” and then modified the colors etc. by changing some HTML-codes.
Downloader, the free companion program to BreezeBrowser takes care of downloading files from the camera/card reader. It does stuff like optional auto delete files, copies files to folders based on dates, creation of EXIF data in a separate text file and it doesn't rename image files.
With BreezeBrowser you can also easy re-arrange the order of the photos in slideshows by drag-and-drop. It's a very good feature.
