Dying right now! My 24-105 was just delivered but it's a gloomy rainy day and I'm stuck in my office for another few hours. Feel like a high school kid sitting in the back of the class, staring at the clock and willing the bell to ring!
Hopefully pictures tonight! :D

Bummer. Very frustrating isn't it. I feel for you. When the weather gets better, you should take it down the James peninsula for a great walkaround workout, at Jamestown, Yorktown and Williamsburg.

Thanks for the comments guys! Even if having great looking models helped a lot haha.
Wow, I'm at work now... edited those on an iMac at home and they look a tab bit over saturated on my dell at work... Guess I should finally invest in a calibration device.
Yea, the lens performed quite well for me and though f/4 produced ok depth of field, there was times I was wanting more blur. I would pay quite the premium if this lens was f/2.8, I could even do without IS. The only real time I valued IS on this lens was for handheld video. Most of the time I was outdoors with a great amount of light so never had to worry about slow shutter speeds.
Majority of my shots that came out nicely were shot at 105mm anyway, so I decided to ditch the zoom and go for some primes.
As a travel lens, it would probably be on of the best. But alas, traveling will have to wait.

I've even been told that at 105mm, it blurs the background out even more than the wider 2.8 big brother at 70mm.

Even if that's true, you won't get the same kind of image.
The perspective at 105mm will most likely be different for you than at 70mm, assuming you've stepped back to frame the shot the same.
Depends on what kind of style you like. Some people like the flattened look, others don't.

Im pretty new to this forum, found it a couple of weeks go when I decided to buy my first Canon (previous Nikon owner). Recieved my camera, with the kit lens 24-105, example last week, tried it out today. The cats were chosed to be the first subject, close to hand :).

Simply beautiful. It is always sad that this window of perfect light is so brief - but I guess that is part of what makes it so special.
Thanks for helping to show how good this lens can be.

It's one of my favourite landscape lenses - it's fairly lightweight (for an L-series zoom anyway) and easy to carry around in difficult terrain, covers a range of focal lengths suitable for 95% of landscapes, takes 77mm filters and is about as sharp as any prime when stopped down to f/8 or smaller.
