i went to a minor league baseball game.. work paid and during business hours.. got to love that!!!!!!!!!

Beautiful shot.. Fantastic Bokeh and soft colours.. And the matching glitter on both the ring and the tassles on the dress..

Great that you ignored the faces and just concentrated into the close-up, which greatly helps to tell a Story..

Yes HDR. Thank you. The Halos....I know...I think its ghosting...it was very breezy while shooting. I tried to get rid of them without much luck. Maybe I will give it another try. Thanks for the CC

@ Lakhum. Just saw your pics at 24-105 forum. Great choice of lens. My gear profile somewhat matches yours. How do you find 24-105L as an indoor lens (ie for taking photos for a group of 5-7 people in a normal room? I am not talking about wedding, just normal dimension living room) considering it starts from 38mm in a cropped camera?
Also, I have been told there are some soft copies of this lens out in the market (during 2006-2007 at least), did you go and tasted the lens before you buy it?

At 30 secs, handheld.. That's why there's a slight blur on the castle edges..

Could have done with an f2.8 or f1.4 lens..

thanks! yup i was thinking of using my nifty but was not wide enough for the shot, 2.8 is next on my wish list either sigma or canon 24-70mm. or a tokina uwa.

Rather pleasing as it was 'hella' dark in there!

I'm so pleased.
24-105 is not my preferred lens, but I took it away travelling with me.
The 24 is nice and wide on my 5D ii.
Sure, primes are more unique but for just using 1 lens, it was brilliant!

I'll perhaps upload another picture shortly, after I convert it into B+W.

thanks, the HK skyline is indeed amazing to witness. and no, that's the kowloonhighway-westharbourtunnel: the old airport you are referring to was closed down in 1998. No more jumbojets flying over your heads when you're out shopping :p

The reason i started reading this thread was:

You just said it.. I was holding back.. I swore i would never buy a lens less than f2.8, IS or not, a while ago and i was looking at 24-70mm..

Great lens for landscape etc, but doesn't have the extra reach to use everyday as a 'All-purpose-Walkaround'.. For streets, travel, night shots etc.. but..

If this lens were made in an f2.8 version, bigger, heavier and more expensive of course, how many people would switch to it?

I would buy it straight away..

Especially after seeing the quality pictures in this thread so far..

Anyone here have any issues with their 24-105 back focusing? I have noticed just in the past few shoots I have done a hand full of images back focused.

I'm assuming exactly the same, with IS and the same range, at a constant f2.8. I wonder how big it would be and what it would cost? A lot more than the 24-70L in both cases, I assume.

It doesn't need to be as it is just fine the way it is. I have found it focuses just as fast and acurately in low light as any of the 2.8 lenses I have owned and it can be shot all day long at f/4 producing sharp images with pleasant bokeh. I like the fact that it is lighter than and has a greater focal range than the 24-70 f2.8. I replaced my 24-70 with this lens and have never regretted for 1 minute doing so. If I need a faster lens I have primes for that purpose.

Thanks! It was easy: just used merge as panorama in Photoshop CS5 (5~6 shots), then fixed the missing corners with content-aware fill. Then imported it it in Lightroom and did some brush action on the buildings and skies for more contrast. Was a quick job, I probably shoud've spent a bit more time on it.

was the distortion simply corrected in PS or did you have to manually tweak the photos?

Easiest way is to zoom in a bit whilst preparing the shots. Distortions are neglectible in de midrange of this lens.
