Thanks - I really enjoyed this trip, I think I got more "Keepers" then any other time I've been.
I don't do Photoshop but do I shoot RAW so the only processing / converting was through DPP. I think I tweaked the exposure on #2 a little but it was on an uncalibrated monitor at the time. Looking at it again it looks a little hot.

I recently started using this lens on a FF. The FL finally comes into its own, vs 1.3x or 1.6x, and makes a great walk-around. But, I was surprised and disappointed, how much this lens vignette's. The seagull shot is at 105mm @ f/4.5.

Exactly. The alternative lenses specifically for a crop camera don't make much since to me since there is so much overlap. Since I already have a 10-20mm for wide angles and tend to take pictures at longer focal lengths anyways, this is a great lens for me. I often found my 17-50 too short when using as a walk-around outdoors, it was almost always at either 17mm or between 35-50mm.

I think it is actually a genuine healthy rock. He let some audience at the front touch it to prove it's real. Although it took him 4-5 goes before it broke! :D
It would have been very interesting though if he tried to cut that rock on the bottom

Not a super contribution to the thread, certainly not at the caliber of the majority of the posts here - it's just a quick snap of a car rarely seen these days, but something to show that this lens can certainly perform - can't wait to put it to good use on my new 5DMk1

Well after months of deliberation and toiling with "do I don't I need/want this lens" I bit the bullet and picked one up. Got it for a fairly good price in perfect used condition. Really pleased with how sharp she turned out but then that is the standard I've come to expect from the L, a little more discrete than the 70-200 2.8 IS for street photography so it should encourage me to play with that side of my photography a lot more now.
A couple of sample shots from this evening, obligatory Duck shot, of course. Found her sat on 3 eggs the other day by the river and sure enough she was sat brooding this evening. Also some flowers at the roadside on the way back from the river with the kids!

Hey, don't go overboard, now:)!
Seriously, this is a fine all-purpose lens, and can pull of some very good stuff. A nice zoom range can get you mileage in, say, a performance, discreet street photography, that kind of thing that having a prime can hinder you. IS is great when you need it. But don't get rid of the primes!

Yes you are right. I went to all primes because of mostly low light shots and I always got a sharper pic. I never had zooms back in the AE-1 days.

I have a 50D and debated for several weeks about what lens to get first. I ended up with the 24-105L and have been very happy with it. I took it to Phoenix last weekend and ended up going to the Desert Botanical Garden there. Here are a couple of photos I took there. I don't have a true macro but this lens let me get pretty close....

Some of you are on the 5D Classic thread, so excuse my repeat here:)!
A friend of mine has landed in the hospital and I visited her tonight. I've been getting a bit more motivated in my shooting lately, and to try different things, so I brought some gear just in case. So, I'm inflicting you guys with my attempts:)!
As I was leaving the hospital, I decided to set up the 5D with the 24-105 -- unfortunately I didn't bring my 16-35 -- and get a shot of the hospital entrance. Wide on the 24-105, so in Lightroom I had to work with the framing, an brighten up the dark exterior a bit:
