Flash question

I'm thinking of buying a G3, and was wondering if this old flash unit i have laying around might be compatible with it. It's a Canon Speedlite 244T. It's pretty ancient. Fits on a Canon T70 SLR.

Hi!
It seems, that g3 doesn't like Sigma EF-430st flash - it does operate the zoom, but doesn't fire it. Does anyone knows what's going on?
