This is a 100% crop from a picture taken with my 350D @ 35mm.

I notice on more and more of my pictures that I have this bizarre grain effect.
The photo was taken at iso 100, Raw and then converted using RSE.
Can someone tell me what it is? Is it noise? how would you correct that?
The other thing is that I do not use to get that effect so much before, like if I see it more and more.
Any ideas?

You are talking mostly about that area under her jawline between the skin and the scarf I assume?

Err, I guess the whole picture has some amount of choppiness to it, everything bordering the scarf*, her upper lip, etc.

Yes, you are right, the whole of my pictures look that way. I put that crop because it shows well the effect.
Here is another example, @ 400 iso.

I do not have that on all of my pictures, but recently it really appears very often.

That's not noise, looks like bizarr sharpening halos or extreme jpeg compression. As you shoot raw it can't be the latter.
If you shoot a highest quality jpeg, will it look like that too?
If not the problem is in the raw conversion software.

I agree. Try shooting jpeg for a day or two. If the results come out good, then the problem could be the raw conversion or post processing.
