Okay.........I bought a pre-owned 180mmL and was expecting it yesterday. I was waiting and waiting, but it didn't show up. I checked the FedEx website.......it said "DELIVERED". I was panicking......so I called up FedEx at 1:00am in the morning, and they told me that they would send a memo to the driver to ask him to check and retrieve the package from where he delievered the package to, but the driver might not see the request until Friday morning since he's on the road. I just don't understand why they just have a special order to have someone follow this up since they make the mistake. Now even if they are able to retrieve the package and deliver to me, I don't know if I should accept it if the box is opened.
Any thought on this???

If the box has been opened already, I would expect they wouldn't deliver it to you anyway. If they do deliver it, I would promptly have it sent back to the shipper so that any liability falls completely on the seller and Fedex. What a cluster. If the lens has a high value I am surprised they delivered it without a signature confirmation.

That's exactly what I thought. If they deliver to me with the box open, I would not accept it. The funny thing is that they did have a signiture confirmation from "someone", but obviously it's not mine :(
I will know by tomorrow if they can retrieve the lens and deliver to me. Keep my fingers crossed.
Thanks!

Nice to see somebody besides UPS mess up, but sounds kind of odd why they did not send driver back to fix the problem today.

Chi, sorry to hear that this happened to you. I had a similar problem with FedEx around a year ago. I ordered a watch online and they sent it via FedEx. I was tracking it online and was expecting it on a certain day when suddenly the status went from "On Delivery" to "Delivered", and I didn't have the package yet. I immediately called them up and they siad that they would contact the driver and would call me back. 2 hours later I called back and they said the package was delivered to an address around 12 blocks away from mine. The address was in no way similar to mine, and up to this day I cannot for the life of me fathom why the driver delivered it there.
I called the mail order company and presented the problem to them, and after verifying with FedEx they sent me a new item, this time by UPS. I am not sure what went on with them and FedEx though. Ever since, I never had anything sent by FedEx.
I am not sure what you can do at this time, perhaps pestering FedEx to retrieve the package is all you can do. Of course you can inform the seller, and if you paid by credit card, you can file a complaint if all else fails. FedEx really has to clean their act up.

Hi Pio - I guess the only thing I can do now is keep my figures crossed and hope that the lens will be delivered to me later:confused: I think it's not just FedEx, I had similar experience with UPS as well. People just don't know how to read ...... period. Whenever I purchase big ticket items, I've always been afraid that this would happen.....and finally it happens :( . Well, as you said, if I don't receive this by tomorrow, I will call up my credit card company and file a dispute. What's more scary is that I don't think the seller declared the full value of the lens as I was told by FedEx that they couldn't see any value declared. Anyway, wish me luck;) .
P.S. Oh, btw when will be the next NYC POTN meeting??? Hopefully I will be able to join you guys! :)

Thanks Dan! If that happens in NY, I'm sure it will disappear in no more than 10 seconds. Congrats on your new addition. I was thinking about getting the 85L, but I think I will wait a bit see if the price will come down a bit. One thing for sure is that I would not buy the Mk II, as it's just way over-priced, IMO.

Great news (for me that is).........this morning when I was getting ready for work, the door bell rang. Guess what........my neighbor handed me a box.......I was thinking that it must be my 180L......I opened it up.......what a relief........the lens is still in great shape..........The funny thing is that it's not FedEx who tracked down my lens, what a shame. But, as long as I have my lens back, that's all I care.......for now at least!
P.S. I am a happy man today:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

back when i was building drums, i had sent away for some birch ply wood and it was delivered from southern california to CT without a hitch, then it makes it to my street, and goes about four houses past mine on the opposite side of the street. Luckilly, the shipper put my telephone on the shipping label so Paul (the guy down the street) called me up and told me to come get it before he used it for something..lol So I did and to this day, i track EVERYTHING i get sent to me! If its something expensive, i will go pick it up at the fed ex or UPS wharehouse..theyre about 15 minutes away from me so its not a problem.

I never use Fed-ex since this happened to me: I was working in the leasing office of an apartment complex. One of my co-workers signed for a package without checking the name on it. When I noticed the package was not ours, I phoned Fed-ex. They told me to put it outside on the doorstep and they would pick it back up. I told them I didnt feel comfortable doing that as it was raining cats and dogs outside and why dont they just call the person and tell them where it was. Three days later Fed-ex picked it back up. I have not used fed-ex since then.

Thanks, CDI. Actually, I think she's kind of returning a favor to me because she had a package wrongfully delivered to me BY FEDEX:rolleyes: and I brought it back to her. Thanks again!

Yep, I learned too.........From now on, all big ticket items would go to my dad's office, as they normally more careful with commercial delivery. And, business name is easier than idividuals' names, I guess;)

That's exactly right..........I don't understand how they can survive this long.....Funny that my neighbor told me this morning that she actually called up FedEx, and the rep insisted that the package was delivered to the right address........and refused to pick it up........what a joke........I thought UPS was bad, but now I know who's even worst!

I use FedEx for all my outgoing packages weighing enough to be cost effective against USPS. Haven't had a problem so far. At least, no customer has come forth and said anything. They're almost always faster than UPS as well.

Glad you find them okay and haven't had any problem. Maybe it's just me and a small selected group of "lucky people" like me who had problem with them:lol: .........hmmm then I think I need to buy lotto tonight;) ;)
