I finally managed to get a shot of this great bird at lunch today. Looks like he'd just had his lunch too as you can see blood from a kill on the feathers and talons.

Thanks Dancinec, I've updated the post with the EXIF data.Based on what I can see and your data, I would suggest upping the f-stop to increase the sharpness and depth of field. There are parts of the hawk that are sharp and parts that are soft. It is a very good capture, but could have been even better. I think there is plenty of light (1/2000 sec) and since it wasn't in flight an f-8 would given you that added depth of field. Keep on shooting and sharing.
