Ignore the Philistine. Anyone who can't appreciate one of the two most fantastic aircraft ever built . . . (other's the Mosquito, before you ask)

The plywood wonder , one of my favourites too:D
any advice going for a novice plane shooter:lol: my first attempt at a hurricane last year came out a touch dark:confused:

Well, you don't want prop freeze, so try and shoot 1/250th or less, and also if it's too dark, then your camera was metering the bright sky behind the aircraft. Try using exposure compensation +1/3 or 2/3.

Thanks for the reply Wazza
I practised prop blur on the fly bee planes from Southampton airport on friday had settled on 1/160 - 1/200th
I kinda figured the metering on the hurricane was due to the sun position / bright sky ! wasnt sure if peeps used ealutive or a center weighted metering so I figured I might try exposure comp , going to shoot raw anyway.
again thanks for the reply

I usually shoot manual and meter on the grass (it's about 18% grey). You might want to shoot JPEG even though RAW's more flexible. You'll run out of buffer in no time shooting RAW, even not in continuous. You might want to use the 100-400+ TC. No AF, but the IS will help, and it'll be at near enough infinity that it shouldn't matter too much.

Both are my favorite planes of all time :D
PS. I touched/caressed a Spitfire once when no-one was looking.
I had to deliver a message to someone in one of the hangers at Woodburn Airbase and there it was, being restored.
