First track meet of the season. It was late afternoon, with rain clouds lingering. Shot these in raw with my 10D and 70-200 2.8. Used RSP to process.

Looks like a good start to the season.....
Watch your horizons like on the second shot... it detracts from from what you really want people to see. It's a quick fix.

Thanks for the comment Mark. I tightened up the crop. Is this more like what you would suggest?

Hi Ken,
I think this is what Mark was talking about. The horizon of your second shot is not straight throught the picture. Most noticed by the hurdles. I hope you don't mind, I edited your picture to straighten it out. Rotates CCW 1.3°.

P.S. I do like the crop you did, better than before.

The crop and slight rotation really helps that hurdles shot. It works really well now.
That first shot is a fine capture. I wish you'd aimed lower or found an angle where I could see them from head to foot. A portrait orientation might have worked better.

Yep - that is what I was looking for... the crop helped too. Little things like being just a little off on the horizon - particularly with an image with so many lines - can distract the eye. Now instead of looking at it and feeling something just isn't right, you now see the action - if that makes sense. Same picture... just tweaked... a lot better feel.

Thanks Zed. Did you use ps for the rotation? It sure does add to the pic. Again, comment are appreciated.

Yup. Photoshop CS2. Click "image" then "canvas rotate" then "rotate arbitrary". Not sure if that is the same for Elemants.
