I would think you could just change the head, but then, I can't find info to confirm this. This isn't a totally ridiculous question, is it?

What sort of light(s) did you want to put on it? That would make a tremendous difference in your goals.

My shortest light stand is 10', my tallest 13', I don't think a tripod (as a light stand) would do me.

I would rather use a real lightstand. I'm sure there is something out there you can clamp on the tripod though.

Good point, I should have been more specific. I've got an older Manfrotto 058 (killer legs) and was looking to have the option to use it as a heavy duty light stand whhen needed. I wouldn't be going any higher than 7 feet, so that won't be a problem. I've got several stands here, but they appear rather flimsy in comparison and while I'm comfortable using these for smaller lights, when it comes to say, a Britek 650, I'd prefer stronger legs. I figure, since I've already got the 058 here, I might as well have the option of using it both ways, if needed.

there are adapters that fit the screw post of the tripod that accommodate lights. I just saw one in my local shop yesterday. They are closed today so I cant get the info. Sorry.

Hi Dante
If you get a chance to find out what this adapter is called, it would be supremely appreciated. Whatever it's name, it does not appear to be any of the obvious possibilities. :)

This would attach directly to the legs.
