View Full Version : How can I make the front page more interesting?

Here is my main front page to my exhibition.

Samiad Photography (http://www.samiad.co.uk/gallery/index.php?pass=public&lang=eng)

As you can see there is only two galleries, and as such there is a lot of wasted space. I'd like to do something with the space, either put a bunch of text there, or better yet, some photo or logo.

How can I use this space?

Samiad, if you don't have anything to put there, why not make the thumbnails a little larger to take up the extra space?

BTW - I love the links into Google Earth - great idea.

Thanks othomas.

I was thinking about doing that, I guess that's the easiest option.

Can you explain how you put in the Google Earth links? Is it just a bit of HTML in the picture description?

Gratuitous boob shots often work;)

Btw I too think the google earth link is very nice:D

Keep following the google earth link theory....

Just apply the same principals to the "index welcome text" to liven things up a bit;)

Firstly, the Google Earth stuff is just some extra description on each photo's description in EE.

The problem with adding stuff in the "index welcome text" is that it displays at the top of the screen, where ideally I want to fill the space to the right of my gallery descriptions. I didn't want to have to edit the PHP code, but it looks like I might have to get my hands dirty :(.

Bust out the soap!:D

I'm sure this is easy and I'm just missing the obvious, but I've tried to get HTML tags to work in the photo data, but without success. I'd like to add a Google Earth link to each photo like Samiad, but I can not get the HTML tags to work. It just assumes they are text. Can anybody offer an example?

Thanks.

Make sure that "activate links" is not ticked (in misc settings/photo page settings/PHOTO TEXTS). It removes all html (and I have removed it from next version! :) ).
