Hi poeple........
I just recieved a new battery grip for my 350D this morning and i just gotta say its really nice......... (why didn,t i buy one sooner)
it adds a fair bit of weight to the camera but it feels way more balanced now with my macro lens on :)

the vertical shutter button is a godsend too...

this thing is never coming off the camera :)

I got a good deal on it from an ebay shop......£67 +10 postage (thats just over $134) a saving of almost $60 compared to most shops i looked at online....

When i had my 300D i got a battery grip and LOVED it, now i could never go back to a camera that doesnt have that extended grip. Unless maybe if it was a 5D ;)

Now all you need is the hand strap. Just remember the instructions on how to put it on are on the manual for the grip.

This afternoon I picked up my new 10-22. I carried my 350D to check the new lens, I decided to leave the BG-E3 grip at home.
But when I tried to take some shot, without it since one month... I felt the camera really uncomfortable. It's great, and now I know why.

I just ordered the Opteka grip for my 350D, the BP-XT. It was only $60 and is supposed to be very similar if not the same as the Canon grip. I really want to see this added comfort that everyone says the grip gives. I mainly need it for portrait-oriented shooting, but the balance with my XT and the 70-200 f/4L is just ridiculous.

I've liked my grip too ever since I got it. I've not had a problem with the 350D being small, but the grip does give a more balanced feel, extra buttons, and a slightly more "butch" look too. ;)

Hah, care to elaborate on that? I'm struggling to picture what a "butch" camera looks like.

People say that the grip gives you more battery life, but it doesn't do much of anything to battery life if you only have one battery, correct? That is unless I carry around a magazine full of AA's.

As to "butch" I know what I mean.
The grip holds 2 NB-2LH batteries, so that is what is meant by a longer battery life. The nice thing is though that you don't need two batteries in place for the grip to be used. the grip also comes with a AA x 6 holder too, and has a neat little place for you to slot the battery door from the camera onto.

Tried mine without the grip with the 70-200 attached, it looked and felt ridiculous.
I'd never go back now. A good purchase IMO.

everyone I know that gets a grip loves it and wonders why they didn't do it sooner.
from what I've read, the Opteka grip comes from the same factory that makes the Canon version, minus the canon logo.

Sure i just noticed tho that the postage is £17 not 10 as i stated... (i had ordered a spare eyecup also and the postage on that was 7 quid so i assumed the postage for the grip was a tenner.... (i guess they combiuned the postage on the 2 items) I've also used URgalaxy before and found them to be a great company (i guess thats another reason i ordered from them)

I also just seen that onestop digital have them for £89.99 (I did a search on their site but searched for bg e3 didn't find it....... this morning i tried bg-e3 (seems the hyphon makes all the difference :) no idea how much their postage is tho)

I read a few articles stating that there were some issues with the Opteka one (shutter button not as smooth for one thing) that's why I opted for the canon (opteka also make those AWFUL white 12 billion mm lenses for 20 quid so that kinda put me off a bit too....
