i went fishing and after that at night i decided i would take some shots found when i used the polirizer the pics were dark. mm ya probably im dum cause it supposed to be used in light right. like i said im a ameutor and me not know. also too my night pics are strange. like sometimes i get good. then unfocused or totally unfocused. or strange lights in the pics. also from light moving things like people or cars. i used auto and the night setting. me need to take a course i think to learn more. well atleast i meet a american or happen to take a pic of me fishing. he had a olympus one. did not happen to get the model but he said something in the 1000's. looked good too. said it the fastest frame to frame shotter. like 15secs. well me need to practice more i guess and hear you guys suggestions.

I'll comment on your pictures turning out dark. I often look at how the exposure is turning out on the LCD screen before taking it. If it looks really dark, it is usually because I'm focusing on a bright spot in the composition and the exposure compensates by exposing less. In that case, I point the camera to a darker part of the composition and press the * button to lock exposure. Then I recompose and shoot.

As for the polarizer, you definitely won't get the benefits from it unless you are in sunny conditions or are using it to take glare off a specific subject like water or glass windows.

Keep shooting...shoot lots! That's the best course you can ever take! Keep asking questions here. I've learned tons from this forum.

Also, search for your question before posting it. More than likely, it has already been answered in a previous thread.
