Hi folks,

Been lurking here for a few weeks weighing up the pros and cons of the D30 and finally took the plunge today for delivery on Friday.

Its a big step from my Minolta 500 super and 505 super, but one I feel I just had to make.....

I will be taking football shots (sorry - soccer!!) mainly and have also ordered the sigma 28 - 70 f2.8, and 70 - 200 f2.8.

Here in the UK I have got a deal with spare battery and grip plus a 256 memory card for UK£1849.99 with both lenses at UK£750ish.

My question to the UK users (I know US have microdrive rebate) is how long does it take to receive the free accessories (I opt for speedlite 550EX flash gun)? - This is partly the reason why I have purchased now as you have to buy the camera before Christmas eve to qualify.

I'm sure I have made the right decision so I hope I will now have many more happy years of photography to look forward to.

I am about to do the same. Where did you purchase your D30?
( I have heard that it takes between 6 and 10 weeks for the accessory to be shipped).

Ordered on 12/12/01 from Jessops Mail Order to ensure a price match. Seen in 'Amateur Photographer' magazine at AJ Purdy & Co. at £1849 for D30, 256 c/Flash, Spare Batt & Grip. They matched with no gripes.

Bought all above plus Sigma 70 - 200 f2.8 EX lens for total of £2285 and was here next day. (Still playing!!)

Also bought 28 - 70 f2.8 EX Sigma lens from Westbase Electronics in London for £229 and also arrived today.

Can't wait for it to get light tomorrow!!

My Speedlite came in about 2 weeks, I was very impressed with the service.

How on earth did you get a deal like that, the 70-200mm cost me £600 on its own!!
