Here's a few of my favorites from yesterday. I'd bet money #1 is going onto a wall. The wedding itself was quite rushed, I only had about 20 minutes to do the "creative" pictures, i'm pleased I got anything at all. #3 still needs work to deal with the brightness on the right.

Edit - and and here's some with the fronts of their faces. I don't like these photos quite so much, and these might not be the best - just what I found with a quick look around.

Came back for another look and got a great chuckle (co-workers looking at me funny now)...
The second shot of the Groom getting a handful is great! :D

You should see what he did with the brides mother! And the bridesmaids... i'll post a couple of them later :)

Hmm.. based on the selection you posted, pretty much all of the subjects are centered...
tim

Good point - I did more central composition than usual because it suited the situation. I can crop them any way I feel like, of course.

Here's another, the original is boring and kinda crappy, so I played with it. What do you think? Keep it or ditch it?

Tim,
Great stuff. How many is that now?
I am not sure i care for the last pic technically, but I love the atmosphere, so i reckon it is a keeper!

Thanks Rob! :) I'm not entirely sure how many i've done, I think it's about 8, but i'm starting to lose count. I have another half dozen already booked and inquiries coming in quite often too :)

Funny how that happens... I am a few behind you, but similarly, the calendar is filling up slowly but surely. I should have some new portrait/glamour stuff to share soon too in a few weeks.
Keep up the great work mate.

Hopefully i'll have more time to do portrait, glamour, modelling, and just plain fun stuff in winter.
Tonight I got a $300 print order (US$200), and it wasn't even from a bride and groom - it was a member of the extended family who had a little girl in the wedding party! Lots of enlargements in there, plus they made good choices matching photos to print sizes :)

Great to hear. I have been doing shoots at the local theatre recently at dress rehearsals, and have started getting requests for prints - especially the youth theatre, lots of parents that have seen my work floating around the place and spot a pic of their kid.
As long as we enjoy it i guess... the dollars are just perks (although quite necessary at times).

I'm going full time in 5 days... at least until the end of the wedding season :)

#1 is great ... do you shoot shots like that with a polarizer? Can you post some of the best candids?

These are great Tim. The only thing I don't like is where the groom is standing in #1. I think it would have been better if he were standing on the same level with her. It just looks uncomfortable on that little ledge he is on.

I'm not too crazy about these Tim. You do a lot better work than this. #1 is great, only if they were looking at me. #2 feels like you're a midget (which I assume you aren't), #3 the couple is too much "dead on" and I'd wanted more of the water in the upper right corner somehow even if there's a tree trunk there, where you cut the image. #4 is fairly good, but also here they are sort of dead on in the middle and it looks like they are walking towards two directions instead of towards the same direction. #5 is a good candid, but does nothing for me. #6 nicer when they look at me, but the angle is not appealing to me. #7 cute, but the background is busy... maybe try to blur it out? #8 the color looks odd and the hands are not enough in focus in the composition to make the shot appealing, now it just looks like you've missed focus, might have tried the midget angle on this one instead. #9 a bit soft, but the funky colors sets the mood for a fun party.
I'm sorry I picked everything apart here... but I know you can do so much better.

bpuppy - nope, no polarizer, I bought the clouds out in post, I just exposed it more or less properly. I don't have many good candids from this wedding, plus I have no time to find them sorry.
Thanks for the critique Char, and Petra for going through each and making suggestions. I can see what you mean most of the time Petra, I still like them though.

Hi Tim
Some great pictures here, are these images shot in Raw? I understand quite a few wedding photographers shoot this way....

Yes, I shoot 100% RAW, I find it much much quicker for my workflow. As an aside the quality is also a little better than JPG, and it makes it easier to fix mistakes you make while shooting.

Thanks Rob, it's only until the end of wedding season, but i'm looking forward to having the time to do what I really love! My customers should see improved service and perhaps more post processing as well. I also plan to design a few pages of a wedding album for each customer, even if it's not ordered, as a "teaser" for them.

Another nice set tim, I'm still slowly working through my two weddings. I'll have some for sharing next few days.
As others have said, I'm also not too fond of the centre composition. Still impressed you're getting so many, and wonder if I would have this luck also if I advertised. :)
At least you have the faith in yourself. :)
tim

I don't think luck is involved! I have done some crops for the set of proofs i've delivered, though in this case I don't mind the central composition too much.

Hi Tim
Great job, i really like that first shot too, its a keeper on the wall for sure!!!
It's funny how the B&W stands out more than the Coloured one you posted, usually it's the other way around, but that first one really is gorgeous and B&W jts makes it!!!
I have to admit, i have done 3 weddings and 2 have been totally rushed lol it's so much more stressful, so you did well...the one from the weekend, i didn't have my hubby there as my asst, i must admit having him there is so much better!
But great pics, cant wait to see more, and good luck going full time - i can only WISH!!!!!!!!!!

Full time with no work is the same as not doing it at all ;) I have albums to make, prints to have made, and I think 4 weddings in next two months, so that should keep me busy :) After a few weddings the stress starts to go down, you start to get used to it, and and you can do more creative stuff - so long as the B&G are co-operative. For this wedding it was REALLY cold and we couldn't be outside long, then it started raining, which made things tough.

lol well i guess so....i work full time in accounts, do casual car cleaning on the side and i also have my weddings as weekend work now...id lvoe to give it ALL UP jsut for wedding photography but unfortunately just don't have enough to keep me alive!!!
I know what you mean about being busy....it sucks too when your at work thinking "I could be at home sorting out this album and pping those photo's" but unfortunately dems are the breaks DOH! lol
Good luck sorting al the stuff out in the next few months!

Someone once said..."My general thoughts: faces are important, eyes looking at the camera are important...". I couldn't agree more. This seems to be missing from most of these photos.

Lucky those aren't the rules for good photos then eh? :p
