I just got a 5D and did some testing on my daughter. I'd like to eventually get some lights and backdrops to start taking portraits so any critque is welcome.

Yes, your daughter makes a pretty subject, you should be proud of her. She has beautiful eyes.
If you are able to, try another couple of shots with the flash bouncing off the ceiling or wall. Or better yet, use natural light if you can, perhaps with fill flash. The shadows it creates will give more depth to the picture. See if you can close the aperture to 5.6 or more to get just a little more depth of field. Focus manually on her eyes instead of AF. You might need a tripod.
This is an example of what I mean: http://www.yaffa.com.au/digital/tutorials/o-n05/sharp_start.jpg
If your daughter is anything like mine, she won't mind having her photos done all over again.

Very nice photos, and you have a pretty daughter. You could try getting a bit further back and bouncing your flash off a white side wall, that can work well.

Thanks for the suggestions. The reason I have such a tight crop is because I was shooting against an unappealing backround that I didn't want to detract from the subject.
Thanks Again
