Whimbrels have bills that turn clearly down, not up. I think it's a marbled godwit.

Whimbrels have bills that turn clearly down, not up. I think it's a marbled godwit.Oh my god, you'r right, didn't look cclosely at the finished shot, forgot I even took a Godwit shot. Thanks Steve for the correction (I know better).

This is a great catch, Dennis! :-) If only the image had been recorded a fraction of a second differently so the wing just uncovered the eye then this shot would be fabulous!

Yes, Buddy, I realised there was healthy element of grabshot in this fine image, with a clearly defined eye this photograph would definitely look great as a published magazine spread! :D
