Hi,

I just got a secondhand a Bowens Esprit 500 Studio light and I'm wondering if there is no problem (voltage related) to connect it to a D60 ?

Any help much apreciated about this.

Thanks,

I can only talk for the Bowen 500. These use a 15Volt trigger, however, the camera is made to support a 6V trigger on the PC socket. I've been using my pair on a D30 for a year with no problems but, I would suggest you risk it. You could always use an Infra-red trigger to support the Bowen or a bounce flash to trigger the photo cell trigger. Apparently, the a company out there that make a step down converter for the trigger voltage.

Either use a Safe Sync or a wireless method or risk cooking your shutter. Shutter replacement runs in the neighborhood of $300.USD plus shipping and time without your camera. The wein safe sync runs around $40-50. USD. Cheap insurance if you ask me. Check them out here http://www.weinproducts.com/photo.htm

P.S. I have a pile of the Calumet/bowens monolights and they are great! Have fun with them.
