Very nice - I like the absence of background, and in shot two - the way the subjects is lifted out by keeping the background dark.

Except- on the first shot, the detail in the highlights are lost. Did this happen in the conversion? Perhaps you knocked the contrast up just a tad too far? Is it deliberate?

It would be interesting to see the original shots?

Ah - its all there - so its just in the conversion to a high contrast b&w that some of the highlights are blown - a matter of personal taste.

I LOVE images of statues... especially these kids... its always a little bit macabre, the way their chubby cheeks are petrified in stone.
