Hello everyone,
I purchased a S50 not too long and have noticed a few scratches have accumulated on the LCD display. I usually keep it in it's bag, but several days ago put it in my pocket "naked" and by the end of the day noticed several scratches and swirls on the display. There was nothing else in my pocket...no change, no keys, etc.
I there anything I can do to protect the LCD display on my camera? Sometimes I just want to put it in my pocket and not lug around the camera bag.
Thanks!!

Hi blueOne,
I bought some camcorder / digital camera LCD protectors on ebay for AU$8. I can make approximately 8 covers for my A70 with the quantity of protective film they provide.
Basically it is very, very thin clear film that has a mild adhesive on one side. It's easy to cut to size and apply without too many air bubbles. The LCD display is slightly affected if you look at it extremely closely, but generally it's perfect.
An added bonus is that it reduces the glare and reflection of the screen cover (which is a problem with the ultra-shiny A70 screen), without reducing the brightness of the display!
Cheers.

You can also use screen protecters for PDAs. Look for protecters on discounted PDAs you can get 12 pieces for $5.
Some discountinued PDAs are Palm III, V, Vx, M500
and Visor/Handspring. Many others as well.
A popular screen protecter brand is Fellows. Most office supply stores are running sales to get rid of the stock.

I put on the thicker daMini protector. it is 1/16th thick or so and provides physical protection as well as protection against scratches. $6 + $2 shipping from:

P.S. The instructions clearly tell you to make sure it is clean before sticking it on. Any little piece of dust or fingerprints on the LCD side of the protector becomes very visible in many lighting conditions.

Be aware of PDA protectors. Some of them (as my WriteRIGHT ones) have a texturized surface to improve handwriting feedback, and the texture looks awful in the LCD. A lot of moire artifacts.

I would love to see some more comments/experiences on this topic. I recently got an s230 specifically for its small size, so I could stick it in my pocket for use anywhere at a moment's notice. I figured if I had to unpack it, or unwrap it, or uncase it, I wouldn't use it as much.
So I've been keeping it in an empty pocket with no change, keys, chewing gum wrappers, etc., thinking this is just "like" a case (i.e. denim case if I'm wearing jeans, cotton case if I'm wearing slacks (grin)).
So it's STILL vulnerable? I need to go buy adhesive backed protection that I may or may not ever be able to get off and that may diminish the LCD clarity? Sheesh. Is this really a genuine problem? Any horror stories or reassuring words from anyone?
I suppose I could buy one of those little cases that attach to your belt but they look way nerdy (smile).
Any additional input welcome. Thanks,
Mike
