I think this is a very good shot of a reclusive creature. He looks like he has just woken up and is wondering what everyone is looking at! The DOF is good, but was wondering what it might have looked like as a portrait shot with a little more of the body?

There's a portrait shot here:-

I'm not sure I got the exposure quite right is this one. The background seems a bit bright and subject a bit dark.

Yes, it is a pity that the exposure is not right on the portrait shot, but I also think that the inclusion of the structure that the koala is sitting on detracts from the image - it is better to think he may have been photographed in the wild.

Gavin
I agree with you about the exposure.
Why don't you subdue the background ??
I'd prefer it without the bright white and blue.
The koala is a little underexposed but the main problem
is the background competing for attention.
Nice shot of the dopey animal though.

Apart from the background being too bright vs. the slightly underexposed koala, this is a very nice capture!

I still like the Koala.
He just looks too cool.
The white spot in the background tend to move the eye away from the koala and is distracting.
