HI all,

This is great forum. I wish I had seen this before I bought my G3 camera. I just recently bought a G3 and seem to like it so far.
It seems like the lense is always trying to focus and and focusis also very slow?...I'm the only one seeing this or you all see this too?
Also,It does make this noise when the lens retracts when you turn it off.I don't know if it is good or bad.

I don't know too much about taking good pictures...but am hoping to get good at it....My question is....How close can you zoom in to an object like a flower. When I get really close to the flower The image blurrs. So how would I take close pictures of birds/flowers etc? Or is it just my camera?

Please help me out guys....thanks.

Go into Macro Mode.. in Wide it can focus 5cm-50cm in tele it is 15-50cm.

Macro button is the one that looks like a flower

Also be aware that the focus system of the G3 may not be among the best in the world. It needs som straight or sharp lines to focus at, or else the camera will focus in and out several times and then record the image way out of focus.

This obviously doesn't occur every time but I think G3 users understand exactly what I mean.

The reason the lens is always trying to focus is that you have the auto-focus set to continuous in the menu (camera is always trying to stay in focus). Change it to single. That way the camera will only try to focus when you depress the shutter release half-way. (you'll save on battery life too).

Good luck with the camera. I've had mine a month now and it's great.
