How does everyone else do this? As I understand it, the D60 focuses a self-timer picture when the countdown is started, not when the timer runs out. I think the D10 works the same. Any suggestions other than a long remote release cable?
Thanks.

thats a good question, i suppose one way to try it if you have a lens that has a full time manual feature.

1) Frame the picture, obtain a after focus lock

2) turn the focus ring so the image is out of focus.

3) fully press the shutter

4) get in the frame quickly!!

wait and see what happens, this should tell u if the camera re-focuses or not. I will try it when I get the opp

if anyone else knows about this i would be interested to know too.

Hi Guys,

why not do the following,
Plan A

1, set up camera
2, set focus to where you want
3, change lens to manual focus
4, set timer and run to spot

Havent tried it but I think it should work

Or plan B
1, get married
2, get partner interested in photography
3, get partner to press button
4, blame them if it goes wrong

My trick was to focus on the back of a reclining chair and then get in it and lean back a bit.

Works for me at least.

Why not put the camera in AI Servo focusing mode? Then center it to where you want the focus to be, and set the timer..

I think Canon's Wireless Controller LC-4 will allow you to remotely control the shutter so you can take a self-portrait. Of course, at $380 (B&H), it may not be practical

My solution was to tether the camera - you know, to the PC. I used RemoteCapture and played with the interval shooting and stuff.
