Because I wanted to know how the lens performed with the 2x Extender (soligor) I decided to test today with some birds in our garden.

Although alot of people claim the 2x extenders are bad I expected a whole lot worse. To be honest I'm surprised with the outcome, the weather is rather dull and there is no direct sunlight.

Great shot, I would'nt mind seeing some "straight from the camera" pictures of this Sigma lens.

I cant locate the 70-210 model in the uk, only the 70-200 is available, and it costs almost as much as a 70-200L F4.

If there ever was a 70-210 it is discontinued. It is the 70-200mm f/2.8 now.

The Blue Heron pics starting on this page in my Gallery were also with the 70-200mm f/2.8 and the Sigma 2X converter...

For some images of the 70-200mm f/2.8 on its own,. this gallery has photos taken in low light at 800-1600 ISO

Hi,

It really is the 70-210 lens, it's indeed an older model.

I looked and found reference to the 70-210 elsewhere after I posted that last statement.... sorry if I was confused... I had not heard of the earlier version. It seems the 70-200mm actaully replaced the 70-210mm.

It does take good photos! :)

I'm just back from the zoo.
And the smoke is still comming of my CF cards :D.

I really put the sigma thru its paces there, only problem was that even with ISO 100 I still had some problem with 1/4000 second shots (blinking to much light), because the lens is not yet chipped a higher apperture is not yet possible.

I stopped down manually with exposure now, not the good way but it worked.

I will be posting some links tonight when I'm done selecting the shots.

The first REAL shoot with the 10D.

Frank

Funny, It's got the film notch code for Kodak Ektachrome 100 6122 daylight balanced film. (one of my personal favorites)...A 4x5 DSLR what will they think of next?

cool shot. I bet that lens is even better without the extender.

Hi,

Just a frame I use sometimes.

Without the extender the lens is AMAZING, I just finished reworking all the shots I took today and some are sharper than I hold possible.

I will post some links as soon as WPF is back on-line.

Frank
