50mm prime tight fit

Just got my 50mm f/1.4 last night and attached it to my 20D. It seems to have a tighter fit than my other three lenses when twisting it to the locked position. In other words, I have to exert a bit more pressure to lock the lens in. Should I be concerned?

I don't have your other lens, but my 50mm f/1.4 behaves the same as my other lens (Sigma 24-70, Sigma 10-20, Tamron 17-35, Canon 70-200).

I noticed my 17-85 is tighter as well. Mostly in the last half of the turn when mounting it right before it clicks into place.

I experience the same thing. I believe it is just the build quality of the lens. I have had no problems with my 50mm f/1.4. I would not be concerned if I were you. Just get out, shoot some photos and post them here. ;-)

As long as its snug and smooth while twisting on, I wouldnt worry about it. I would worry much more if it felt loose.

It will loosen up over time... but will always be nice and snug. I actually prefer the tighter fit.

I like that it is a tight fit...just worried that something might be grinding and eventually wear and thus making other lenses loose.

Mine's more snug than all my other lenses as well. Functions just fine though.

Mine is the same way. . . I haven't had any problems yet. Second thought, I like the way that feels compared to how easily my other lenses slip in and out of the mount, makes me feel like shes in there good and solid like.

My 17-40 is a much tighter fit than any of my other lenses ( all consumer though) I expect it will loosen a little over time, but I would not want it to rock around.
I like it tight, it feels safer. Just be careful when putting it on that it has really locked down!

yes, iver also experienced that my 50 and 17-40 fit on a bit tighter, build quality im sure, dont be worried about it, they take great pics.
