When I use the Canon Utilities File Viewer to either transfer or save a RAW as a Tiff, it always comes out dark. I have tried changing the camera settings and the program used for the conversion, but no dice. Any ideas?

Does this only happen when saving to TIFF, or have you seen the same thing in saving to JPEG? Do JPEGs straight from the camera come out dark? Which camera are you using? Can you post samples with EXIF?

Go into your Settings or Preferences panel (depending on computer) and click on the "RAW Image Processing Settings" tab. See if you have Linear checked. If so, uncheck it and try again.

I just did this tonight, I found I had changed the colour space in raw to Prophoto rgb and when I tried to save as a jpg file it went darker, I just changed it back to srgb and now there ok.

I had a similar problem with an occasional conversion to jpg, maybe 1 out of 40 out of a series of 200. Then it seemed to go away, so I have no clue why it was happening. I'm waiting to see if it happens again so I can send the files to RSE.
