Here are some shots taken at a Division 1 High School state tournament - semi-finals. I'm looking for CC on composition (I did some PP on these shots to bump up the contracts and brightness as the lighting in the arena wasn't the greatest. There's also some noise here and there that I tried to rip out.

They seem a little dark to me, (Could be my monitor)and a touch soft. But I like the captures.

I lighten one of the pics, let me know if it looks better to you...

Good compositions but they look a wee bit underexposed and still a little flat. It's a bear to shoot in those kind of conditions and get shots that pop. The edit by Alan looks a little better but still lacks contrast. I tried my hand at it but those images are too small to get anything worth posting.

Thanks all...yea, the lighting is horrible and I'm shooting through the glass. Our next game is in the finals and on Sunday. I'm going to try something different and shoot from an elevated position over the glass with some flash...580ex. I'll try and bounce the flash to avoid shadows, but even then i think things will come out somewhat flat still. Hockey and basketball, while I love the sports, are SO hard to shoot because of the poor lighting conditions. I'm itching for Lacrosse and Baseball to start!!!

Hah yeah no kidding. One of the sports I find boring to watch is one of the same sports I like to shoot the most....and that's Field Hockey. Being girls in skirts helps me tolerate the game itself I suppose but it's a nice daylight field sport and that's why I love shooting it!

I think the first one has potential, as it actually shows a player skating with the puck. Even that is just a single player stick-handling and could be shot at a team practice. The others are too static for my taste. A good hockey photo should show the puck and also show conflict, for instance, two players contesting the puck, or a shooter and the goalie in one frame.

as said, #1 has promise.
