Finally had a chance to get some shots.
Saw them when I was at a job and raced down to the beach after and 3 were still there (of the 5).
Got told that in December is was not uncommon to see 30 at once there... :shock:

I think the Siggy did well.

The Siggy did VERY well

As did the photog

The place closest to me that has this activity only really gets good winds on overcast, grey days - which makes it a waste...

You have done incredibly well - I know how difficult these can be. Well done. I had to tilt to get the skier (surfer?) and kite in the same picture, too.

Cool shots fran. I posted a very similar thread a few weeks back.

I saw on tv the othernight guys in a skifeild doing this on skis and snowboards! Im so giving this a go!

It was a howling southerly (left to right in the pics) and I walked over all the soft sand in my motorbike gear (inc motorcross boots) to get there.
Had to kneel to stay reasonably stable.
A 1.4tc would have been handy to get a little closer but would have required a [tri,mono]pod.

Need to get out and just take more pics.

They were in RAW so as I learn more about PP I can revisit them :D

Fran, nice pics, I like #2! Makes me wonder whether my lens priorities are right...:confused: I want a macro... and yet with shots like yours and Wazzas... Oh well, I'll cross the bridge when I get there.

I'm not fit to carry Wazzas gear bags.
Or sexy enough by all accounts :D

#2 is my favorite.
The "Trying to hold on whilst slipping off" type of thing.

All I've got to learn now is: Composition, focus, exposure and shutter.

I remember this beach...

Went there when we were over N.Z for 6 weeks, very nice :)

I agree those shot needed tilting to get the right effect.
