ideal placement for beauty dish?

Big-time newbie question here: If you are lighting a model with a single 22 inch beauty dish on a strobe, where would be a good general placement for evocative shadows?

Not a huge fan of beauty dishes but if you want to use them, they work best as close to the model as possible. If you're only using one light, then try not to set it at too much of an angle (unless you're using a reflector to fill in the shadows.
