Couple more shots from playing with my 580 and water. The first is my favorite.

Nicely timed and very well done, love the reflection in the droplet.

What were your settings for the camera and flash? I like this pic.

Stoneylonesome I was surprised at how sharp things were in focus in the drip.

Spacetuna 1/200 f5.6 in Av ISO-800 with my 17-85 at 81mm. I was playing around with the flash so I'm not positive, but it think it was in manual mode 1/128 for the shortest flash duration for this shot (unfortunately flash info is not captured in the Exif). ISO was not intentional - forgot to check it. App was stopped down for the DOF. Shot in RAW.

cgratti Wish I could claim I had great reflexes/timing, but it was more the product of being lucky and filling my 1 gig CF card twice. :)

I was just reading a thread about how scientest do this to calculate the pinch off point of where a drop breaks away from the main stream. There is some real heavy mathmatics involed in it. But there are some real high paid scientests that do this a lot. :D

Glad you persevered (is that spelled correctly?) and got a result. They look good. Are you planning to experiment further ? Perhaps put something behind the drops - a coloured card/text/pattern to see if you can catch the distorted reflection?

By the way - if your avatar is a self-portrait, you uncannily like my big brother in South Africa whom I haven't seen for ages... and now I miss him...
