Hola and stuff....

Breaking out into new territory for me (well...everything
is basically new territory for me )

This was taken around 17th St. near Park Ave.

Canon 20D w/28-135.

1/60s, f/5/, ISO 200

Basic convert to greyscale with PS CS2, then just
adjusted contrast, shadow/highlights and curves.

Wouldn't mind C&C regarding composition, exposure,
processing....

Been lurking on a few forums here for the past
2 months or so....nice talent and advice...

Ciao,

Tom D

A one-legged man was raptured?

Interesting. It doesn't work for me at all.

I feel sorry for the shoe... All alone... I like the picture.

Just curious...

I kinda like it, it makes me wonder where the owner is.... it looks like the shoe just came off in midstride and the person wearing it just kept on going. I can almost see the invisible man :)

It's interesting, and random.

the car and the manhole cover kind of ruin the isolated feel of being alone.. i wonder how it would look with them cloned out?

I guess its a "NY thing..." :D

Where the car and the manhole cover are representive of a "metropolis" so to speak...

Interesting observation and its appreciated...

hmmm... maybe it would've looked different if there was no car there.

Too much space on the bottom of the shot...maybe a horizontal would have been better. Nice capture though.

TXD?

ACK!

Call me Tom

So? Talk about it! LOL!

I've gotten quite an ecclectic group of responses...

This is interesting...

Thanks, Tom! :-) Well, it begs the questions "Where and what has happened to the owner of the shoe?"

I like the photo and I like the presentation of it. As mentioned above the only gripe I have is the amout of space in the bottom of the imate. Well done!

I've been looking for that shoe, where did you find it?

just kidding, I like the sense of drama the shoe creates, makes you wonder what story lies beyond the image.

As others suggested, the extra space at the bottom needs cropped. Great Idea.

Tom,

Didn't I tell you not to take your shoes off while we're shooting?

I agree.. cropping could really help this photo.

It's a different perspective, though

I like it, but I might also crop a little off the bottom. I think the car and the manhole cover add to the picture, IMHO. Nicely done.

Sorry, just got back....The title indicates to me the rapture has occured. One shoe isn't enough 'Left Behind...'. It's a shoe in a gutter in NYC. Or any other city.
