My name is hemant from Mumbai, India. I am an amateur photographer (hobbyist) and planninig to buy Canon EOS 350D / Nikon D70S .
I am interested in Macro as well as bird photography. Which macro lens & zoom lens should I buy along with the SLR body?? Anybody in this forum from Mumbai who can guide/suggest me in buying the specific lenses to pursue my hobby of shooting macro(insects) & bird photography??

Please help me as I will be investing in this camera once & for all ??
Awaiting your kind replies.

for the zoom you will need to go to at least 400mm for wild birds - I dont have anything that long but I guess you will get lots of recommendations for the Sigma 50-500mm 0r Canon 100-400. Both are pricey though. Macro is easier. Tamron 90 macro comes in both Nikon & Canon fits as does Sigma 105 and both are excellent. 150/180 macros will give you mor eworking distance but the 100 range is easier to hand hold and will be better for the smallest insects. Canon & Nikon do excellent macro lenses at a price.

hi there to get the cost down this was shot with a canon ef 50mm 1.8 and a 2xcloseup filter on the lens costs about £70 not bad for up close then you have a great portriat lens

I suggest the Tamron 200-500,although the sigma is the best in that distance, the Tamron is cheaper and it is a great lens.
In the macro section I dont know but I think the Sigma 105 is a good lens to start with.
