Out walking the dog tonight before sunset.

On the way back to get the shot in the other thread, I past a different tree. I am not an arborist, so I do not know what kind it is, but there are a bazillion here in Irvine. The bark peels back in layers, and this was from a branch overhead. I took the shot not knowing exactly what I would do with it. When I tried a mono conversion it really caught my eye.

Great image especially in BW. You might crop it tighter. There is a lot of empty black space on the right that (IMO) distracts. Dennis

There is a lot of black on the left, but I think that the contrast between the dark area and the rest of the bark is what makes the image strong. There's some cool wavey patterns in there....good black and white conversion!

I really like this one, it is very sharp and has a nice feel to it.
