I am new to EE. First of all I'd like to thank Pekka for this excellent piece of scripting. EE is what I have been looking for for weeks now! Probably a very trivial question, but I would like some advice for the directory setup. I know I shouldn't confuse the directory structure with the database structure, but which of the following is a good setup?

1. for every exhibition a separate directory (with thumbs, microthumbs, big, normal, small subdirectories for example). Requires a lot of path administration in the "paths and sizes" setup...
2. for every exhibition separate thumbs directories, but all the photos in one (root) directory
3. all photos in (root) directory (with thumbs, microthumbs, big, normal, small) regardless of exhibition.
4. Any other experiences or ideas?

Thanks, Arko

I suppose the way to start is to have

/gallery/big
/gallery/small
/gallery/normal
/gallery/thumbs
/gallery/microthumbs

Only limitation to this setup is filesystem "files per folder" limit. Also, you should take care to observe filename conflicts in upload page (is photo already in EE or not) when sharing all folders.

If you start having hundreds of photos, it may be wise to spread them a little.

All I can really say is that the choice is free, but you don't have to make it any more complex than you need to.

Hi!

I've got your EE (Pekka), and it`s placed on a friends webserver. Is there a guide that can teach me more about editing the database?
