So coming off that dark style I've been doing lately, here is some upbeat photography.
A couple of friends of mine entered a pool tourny in my town, and it just so happened they needed a photographer. I was hooked up promptly.
I am curious on to methods of good printing. Where could I get these developed at a nice quality? I never quite learned to do it myself.
Anyway, this was a really fun experiment, and I tested some different things here. Some different exposures, positions, styles. Just stuff I'm not used to photographing.
They told me they wanted an artsy contemporary style with these photos. Not just a bunch of shots of them standing around like last time, (apparently, the last photographer was a horrid experience.) So I tried just that, and tried to capture everything. Even the chalk on the tables.
I hope these are enjoyed, as I am happy with the outcome.

This shot was the quarter final game. He made the shot.

This was a cheater photo. They were just warming up here.

The break on the final game of the day. (Both of my friends made the final!)

I enjoy the concentration on this shot.

I can't tell you what I enjoy about this shot, but it is one of my favorites from the day.

And I end with my favorite shot from the shoot. He won the game and the tourny.

It was a fun way to make a little bit of extra cash.
I wish these things would happen on a regular basis, then I could stop taking photos of guys with toasters in bathtubs, hahaha, I kid, I kid.
It would nice for this to be on a regular basis, although.

That's some interesting compositions there, so much so, that it was almost boring to see a "normal" shot such as #4! ;) I think your #2 chalk one is particularly effective.

I like them all. You certainly have talent and creativity, even with the dark stuff.

#3, #5 - ball in motion - fantastic

Very creative - and it left me wanting to see more. I hope they were happy with them - they are certainly a lot better than the stuff on Pot Black (ok, I am old, alright?)

Well done.

Thank you all! I showed this set to a few people. There are about four more shots to this set, but these are the ones I am proud of. The others had an oof here and there, as expected.

I took about 400 photos, though. :P

Very nice work, I think you filled the brief for the job quite well. #2 are my faves, I like the tension in boh shots.

You're using the 18-55 on all these?

As for printing, I've done some dark prints from http://www.photogize.com/bponet/photocentral.aspx and they've all come out fantastic.
