Not too happy with the 10D-Tokina 24-200mm combo. In addition to the unpredictable Error 99 issue, the lens seems too slow in focusing and the shots often are over exposed. Not sure if it is the 10D or the lens?

1. Would appreciate hearing from anybody who has used the 10d with the above lens (specially on recovery from Err 99)

2. Any known reliable 24(or so) to 200 (or so) zoom lenses for 10, i.e., they don't lead to Err 99?

Thanks.

Non-Canon lenses give more Error99 problems than do Canon lenses (which shouldn't really give any).
This is because Canon has not let any other lens maker have the specification for the electrontic interface and they are just really reverse engineering the Canon lenses to get their information to build their lenses - this naturally leads to problems (Error99) when Canon introduces a feature on a camera which the third party lens cannot cope with.

Also superzoom - 24/28-200/300 range - are really too much of a compromise (after all Canons' 35-350L costs how much?) especially on a 10D. Better to buy a couple of better, shorter range zooms instead - preferably Canon.
